Talking Good Times Reunion?

So after the latest marathon, I was thinking it would be so great if TVLand did a Good Times Reunion. I'm not sure if I would prefer a "reunion" where the cast members all gathered and discussed the show or a Good Times 2005, kind of "where are they now".

In the Good Times 2005 -

Florida and James have passed on.

I would guess that Thelma and Keith would still be married. He would be retired from football and maybe coaching at a university or HS. She might be a doctor. A sports doctor would be gr8.

JJ would be a famous cartoonist with his DYNA-Girl comics being made into movies.

Michael probably would be in politics or a Political Science Professor. Or wait, he could be a campaign manager for a presidential candidate. HEHEHE.

Willona could be anything. Maybe have a talk show - Ala Oprah. The Willona show. She could gossip all day and get paid. hehehe.

Penny......hmmmmmmm...that's a tough one. I don't think we could have her be a major singer like Janet Jackson. My first thought is something to do with abused children, maybe DHS or something. Not sure. I suppose she could work with Willona on her show. Maybe her manager or something.

Bookman - City Councilman.

Just some thoughts.

It would be so kewl to see the cast coming back to the apartment.

What do you guys think?

GT CAST IN 2005:
This is pretty impressive dude. Except I think that Michael actually is a judge. The way he was raggin' about doing law, I highly doubt that he changed his mind. Plus, I don't really see Thelma as a doctor. I see her as a professional Broadway actress as well as a dance teacher. Plus...remember the play she wrote in one of the GT episodes that got turned down? Well, she re-submitted the play and it became a big hit - had shows all over the US. And yeah, I agree with you that by now JJ would probably be making millions (I like that you said that DynoWoman would be turned into a movie. I never thought of that) I LOVE YOU for finding a job for Willona. With all the gossipin' she was doing, she DEFINITELY became someone like Ricky Lake (Ricky Lake was more gossipy than Oprah). That's a good idea gal! With Penny - I think that she did Broadway with Thelma, but yeah she is also a counselor and a motivational speaker for abused children. PLUS - Penny and Michael, as the years rolled by, fell in love and they are now married with 3 grown children. With Bookman...I don't know. I didn't really like him so I don't know (nor do I care) what he would be doing in 2005. But Thelma & Keith are grandparents now. ;-) THANKS FOR THIS IDEA!!!!!

I don't know if I would like to see a reunion movie, but a clip show would be nice. John Amos could be in it that way

Default Reunion

I would definitely go for the clip show. Just like they did with "One Day at a Time".

Why continue the show if both the characters are dead and with a new story?

The clip show is a gr8 idea. Either way, I think it's time for a reunion

Now, how do we convince TVLand?

I think all of your ideas are great! I envision the Evan's kids coing back to go through their old apartment one more time because the projects were being torn down to make way for new low income homes and a shopping center. (which is what's happening in real life. The Cabrini Green projects which were potrayed in the opening and closing of Good Times has been torn down)
When the family gets together, they can show clips from the old episodes.
Thelma and Keith would probably have about 2 or 3 kids, I picture Thelma as being a real estate soccer mom type...JJ maybe married twice with a son...Michael married...as for Penny, you know Janet Jackson would proably ask for ton of money to appear, or she would most likely say no..since that show was just part of her child hood. Wilona, happily married at last!

I think it would be fun!

Gr8 ideas. Loved them all. Not sure about Michael being married. He seems like the kind of "guy" to be married to his work.

Wow, Wilona married. Love that.

I agree that Janet Jackson would probably have to make an appearance via satellite. hehehehe. Penny in outer space or on tour. HEHEHE.

I like your ideas. but I see the entre cast coming back from James Evans on down. they would discuss the joy and the drama, the bloopers and the serious episodes. I do belive unless she is doing some serious touring Janet would be there in some way shape or form. When she did the Velet Rope CD in the mid nineties, a magazine article in Eboney showed her with a JJ shirt on.
Then they can take time to remeber those like Flordia and Wanda who made thier transition. Hey for added measure they should do a brief segment of the dozens like they did on the show.

That's kewl. I would love to see Miss Jackson join the reunion. I've never heard her mention the show in an interview. Has anyone on the board?

ive never heard her talk about the show in interveiws but when she hosted saturday night live in 04 they did do a good times sketch where she played penny again so because of that i really dont think she is ashamed of her role in good times she probay just dosent get asked about it much

I wanted to be upfront with everyone - I haven't heard anything about the potential Good Times reunion I brought up in July. Things take a long time . . . just keep your fingers crossed.

After seeing James, JJ, and Michael on The Arsenio Hall show in the 90's it's all just wishful thinking. Arsenio asked John about a reunion and he said no, I wish he'd change his mind. Makes me think if there is still bitterness between him and the producers after all these years.

Yea, could be. It was a very turbulent time from what I hear.
