Book Recommendation and Discussion Thread - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was wondering if anyone read A Time for Dancing or its sequel The Farther You Run...these are the two most amazing books i ever read. Any opnions?? If you havent read them I seriously recommend them

I highly recommend the book I am the Cheese by Robert Cormier. It's a light read, but very twisted and interesting. Definately my favorite book of all time.

If you want something a bit heavier and more disturbing, check out any book by Chuck Palahniuk. I love his stuff!

I was working full time in a bookstore recently, and I finally caught up on my reading. I've finished 3 books by Stephen King - but you all probably already know about him

I've read three books by Gregory Maguire - Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister is my favorite so far. Much better than Wicked.

Ira Levin's a great author I finally found out about. He's a very quick read too, the only sad thing is he's only written six books in about forty years. Rosemary's Baby, Son of Rosemary, The Stepford Wives, and especially A Kiss Before Dying are some of the best books I've ever read. Still have to read Sliver although since I've seen the movie I'm taking my time on that one.

Phillippa Gregory's one I just discovered. Very girly though. But I recommend her to anyone that's interested in Tudor England, she's got some unusual ideas about that era.

I suggest the Harry Potter series and Number the Stars.

I LOVE that book.

My favorite book is Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby Jr. The DaVinci Code was good too. Ooooh and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden is my favorite book ever. I can't wait till the movie comes out!

Read it if you are interested in Japanese culture.

You completely read my mind! I was actually thinking of starting a book related thread myself! Great minds think alike I guess, huh? And what's even more funny is that A Time For Dancing is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite books!!!!! I cried and cried and cried when I read that book! It was so beautiful! I have yet to read the sequel, but I can't wait to see what happens to Sam.

Oh, and for a reccomendation, I thought I'd put in Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Meyers. It's a book about the Vietnam War, and the relationships between a group of soldiers. I must warn you though, it's VERY VERY VERY gory and graphic, so if you aren't bothered by that stuff, go ahead and read it! I trully enjoyed the book, despite being a bit squirmish lol.

I'll think of some more as they come to me.

haha..coincidence...yeah i dont think cry is even the word for what I did, it was more like sobbed..ooh man the sequel is so good too i cried almost as much as i did with the first one.. but i cant spoil it so ill just leave it at that lol

Have you also seen the (excellent) movie?

Best book I've read is.. well, a classic and I guess you've all read it... and if not, you should be ashamed and read it as soon as yoy get the chance... Anyway, it's 1984 by george Orwell. That was one good book.
