Hello. i just have a question, when did good times jump thje shark and lost its ratings was it when james got fired, they hired new cast such as keith anderson, bookman, and janet jackson, i was reading a while back that the show was already cancelled when james was fired, i really wanted him to stay on the show to see themlea get married, the evans never really made it out of the ghetto, i thought that keith was going to be there ticket out, and i wonder how florida did not go back to the valley of the sun with carl she did marry him,

And if Florida could afford to fly on an airplane from Arizona to Chicago, why didn't she have money to pay Sweet Daddy?

I think the shark took a flying leap when James died. The shark circled around for a second flying leap when Florida left for that season.
Good Times was a great show when it had the original cast intact. The season without both parents is unbearable for me to watch. |

I agree with those that said the death of James was the moment. The writing was still pretty good after that, but the show just sort of shifted. And then when Florida left, wow...they were really holding on. They survived the first shark jump and went back for a 2nd one.
Bravo to Ja'net DuBois for sticking around. |
