I'm back from Laughlin, Nevada! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hey, everyone! I have returned from Laughlin, Nevada for the Thanksgiving holiday and I have enjoyed it very much! Missed all of you and I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving holiday in a way with your families and friends.

The weather in Laughlin was 'picture perfect' at the start of my trip and near its finish. Although during the week, the skies had some high clouds here and there and nightly the skies were crystal clear as the moon hovered over the city.

There were a couple of Internet kiosks while I stayed at the Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino but for this one, it's $.30 per minute and I was on for between 80-90 minutes. I just checked my email on Yahoo! and Hotmail, made a trip to GSN's forums and I had to watch for time. There's a clock at the bottom right corner of the screen letting you how much time you have remaining online. The keyboard had small buttons and it was difficult to type and if you want to click on something, you have to press a button below the trackball which was very difficult to surf the 'Net.

But the highlight of the trip was seeing a show at the Flamingto Hotel called "A Really Big Shew", which is a tribute to The Ed Sullivan Show* (1948-1971) on CBS and if you ‘miss’ the variety show are nostalgic about such things, you must go see it. “A Really Big Shew” definitely will take you back to when television was simpler and you get your family around to watch together. During the 'commercial breaks, they showed a quick montage of classic television commercials just like on the real show (Doublemint, Chevrolet, etc.)

There were several acts including a human contortionist cowboy who plays a fiddle, a lady who impersonates singer-actress Bette Midler, comedian Jeff DeHart and Ed, who is played by actor Jerry Hoban and does a ‘dead-on’ impersonation of him! There was a visit by none other than Topo-Gigio!! It was terrific and even though it had a couple of adult-themes in it, the show is very enjoyable and if you have children take them to see “A Really Big Shew” and show them what a variety show is and how much you enjoyed it when you grew up.
