I personally love what's out in the "emo" genre right now (I'm currently burning a hole through my Death Cab for Cutie - Plans CD as we speak

) I don't really get how people are discovering emo like it's a new concept. Back in the 80's when I was in school, we called the Cure emo.

Is Death Cab really grouped into this genre? I automatically associate emo with bands like Hawthorne Heights and Senses Fail or other bands like that. I personally hate it. Not necessarily the music, but the whole emo style. It's such bull****. I do like a few bands that I guess could be considered emo, like Bright Eyes and Saves the Day.

I've heard a lot of people group Death Cab into emo, I dunno, maybe we're all idiots

I guess the changed the rules or something and I missed it. Last I remembered Hawthorne Heights were in that silly bubblegum punk wannabe genre. At least that's what they are known as in their hometown which is also my hometown. I agree it sux. But Bright Eyes, I dunno what to classify that as, it seems almost industrial. Which isn't a bad thing at all. And I do agree the whole style thing is pretty dumn. The funny thing is the style fro the emo thing then is considered goth now.

Go figure!

Yeah, I'm not completely sure how it all works either. I'm horrible at trying to put bands into certain genres.

Me too when it comes to emo, and I actually used to work for a radio station!
