Loren,
You tempt me to think out of my standalone-DVD-burner box. Forgive my ignorant question, but does one need a regular DVD player as well in their computer to be able to burn discs with this burner? Thanks!

this unit will plug right into your computer--fits inside the computer
you read and write with the same drive also avaible is a external enclosure--power supply and this could juct plug into the usb port--no need to install, or open the computer that way also included is a copy of nero, a very commonly used dvd burn program |

What many people don't know, is that you don't need a fast computer to just copy discs. 500mhz and 64mb of RAM is sufficient.
