Stupid Question - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Kind of a stupid question but Why do people get so upset when other users bump up threads? It's not against the rules to bump a thread, is it? Every thread that has been bumped has the minimum of 3 replies saying "Why would you bump a thread from 3 years ago??! Or something like that. Well, it's just a question

Because there's really no need to bump up a three-year-old thread to state something useless, like what your favorite song is.

if someone has something important to say i think it's okay to bump a thread. but i think if you're looking at an old thread, please do us a favor and check the date before responding.

Yeah, but what if you're a new member and you're just seeing the thread for the first time and want to answer it? There will also be other people on here who are new and who may have not seen it either.

Create a new thread on that topic, I guess. If its a few months old, then its ok to bump it up, but anything past a year old is ridicolous. Not to mention 2-4 year old threads.

I really don't think there should be 1,000 threads on the same topic.If you want to start a thread,do what I do..USE THE SEARCH TOOL!!

Yeah but if its from a few years ago it doesnt really matter if its a same topic. If its a month or so ago, then yeah. It just gets annoying when you come to SO and see a thread from 2001 on here- and the reason it was bumped up is because someone wanted to state that pizza is their favorite food.
