Default X-Box 360 priced at $399.99. This is official, too.

Yes, I just went into a video games store last night and the clerk told me that X-Box 360's will be officially priced at $399.99, not to mention that the games themselves will be priced from $69.99 to $79.99 starting out. Tell me what you think?

I've seen a lot of dissapoinntments over it from what I've read on the gameFAQs site. Also it looks like they followed Sonys PS2 mistake of not shipping enough units out. A lot of places are sold out till January. Seems like thay got ahead of themselves on releasing it. And that price? Forget it, I'll just let everbody complain so much they lower their prices..then MAYBE I'll think about it. I'm looking forward morw for the PS3 and the Nintendo Revolution. Xbox don't offer enough game genres.

I think the $399 is for the premium Xbox, you can get a more basic model for $299

Sounds about right. Games are overpriced. Developers didn't even have a lot of time to polish the games off; reviews of the games indicate that they aren't very impressive yet. I'll be waiting for quite a while before I go throwing money at one of these systems.

Yeah, I'd rather go with a Nintendo DS first than a Xbox 360...At least the DS seems to have a nicer selection of games than it did a year ago.

First of all this must be a game for rich people because how can a parent who falll into the "working poor" category purchase a x-box 360 at $300 and then buy the games at $70 a piece?

About the DS.... too complicated to be any fun.

I'm sticking with my Gamecube and PS2, although I haven't played a video game in months.
DS complicated? why so?

I know what you mean, I just hooked my Gamecube up in my bedroom after a year, while my PS2 takes the living room

The $400 one will be able to play *some* of the old Xbox games. Most of the popular ones, anyway.

Leave it to Microsoft to rape the consumer.

I remember reading an article on IGN.com about that. I guess it would have been way too expensive to make it backwards compatible for all games..crap, I wish I could find that article.

No one else seems to have a problem making theirs backwards compatible. Funny that the money hog does.

I still want one. I'm kinda dissapointed with the games coming out on the PSP. And I don't wanna pay THAT much for a handheld.
