Default Wife Swap is a cheap imitation of Trading Spouses

I am just getting into Wife Swap for the first time, and it looks like a total copycat of Trading Spouses! I watch Trading Spouses every week. FOX should sue ABC for copying. This is the same show, only it has a different title, and on another network. Both shows showcases the wives telling the other family what they need to do basically.

Actually, I believe that ABC had their concept first, and FOX ran to get their first episode on the air.
I like both shows. I like the fact that the ABC show doesn't PAY the women anything. They do it for the experiment. FOX pays the women $50K

FOX copied ABC. You have it backwards. FOX always steals concepts from other networks.

I didn't know that. I guess because I watch and like Trading Spouses more than Wife Swap, I thought ABC copied. Seems like to me Trading Spouses has been on longer than Wife Swap, though. I guess ABC should sue, LOL

FOX pulled the same crap with Nanny 911. ABC had Supernanny already. FOX tried to copy Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with Renovate My Family, but it bombed thankfully. Next they will copy ABC's Dancing with the Stars with Skating with the Celebrities.

I watch both shows... and like Trading Spouses a little better because of the twist with the money. I missed Wife Swap on Monday due to a power outage.

I have a question abt Trading Spouses...when the show first started, it was a surprise abt the $$$$, but now that people are aware of the $$$, how can the wives be surprised now? It doesn't make sense.

I much prefer Wife Swap to Trading Spouses.

Wife Swap has a much classier feel to it, while Trading Spouses feels like the cheap, trashy cousin who frequently visits from the trailor park.

Also, Trading Spouses has been on longer...but that's because ABC had been developing Wife Swap and FOX ran to get their imitation on the air first, like someone else had mentioned.

However...the Margaret Perrin episodes of Trading Spouses were definitely classic.

Wife Swap was first produced over here in England for a network called Channel 4. A few years later the American version appeared. TS's is a rip off of Wife Swap.

networks copy networks all the time, so its really no big shock. apparently viewers dont mind because both shows [wife swap and trading spouses] do well for ABC and FOX..
