Does anyone know how Todd's absence was explained after the tragic death of actor David Strickland?

In the sries, it was never really explained; everyone knew something was wrong when he did not show up for work or for the Fatboy Alim concert, one of his favorites.
In the end of the show, everyone was gathered around when the phone rang, letting everyone know he was dead. That was pretty much it. |

In the 3rd season finale, "A Day In The Life", Todd is never shown, but referred to. Nobody can find him. Jack gave him off that day. And Susan searches everywhere for him because Todd accidentally gave her tickets for Fat Boy Slim instead of Neil Young. So Susan and Nana wait at the Fat Boy Slim concert for Todd, but he never shows up. Then they all gather at Maddy's apartment (I think) and wait around for a phone call. Throughout the whole episode, they have tiny interviews where they talk about Todd. And at the end when, after the phone rings, Susan insinuates that something terrible has happened to Todd (in the interview type). At the end of the episode they show clips of Todd best performances. That's the last good episode of Suddenly Susan. The Fourth season was horrible!
