Default Which character do you think was soooooooo unecessary?

I, personally, think that Penny was the most unecessary character in this show. I mean, I'm sorry I don't think her character was funny, nor do I think that her character added any type of flavor to the show. I also think Carl was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO uncessary. OMG - this dude should have NEVER been added to the show. First of all, Florida's thing w/ James was TOO special - Carl could not replace that. They didn't even look good together. Plus, when Florida returned for the final season, we did not hear about Carl...it was like he was never even part of the show. It should have been like that in the first place. Well, that's just me. What about ya'll? Do ya'll think that there were any other unecessary characters?

I second Penny, Carl, and Keith. Bookman was funny and made for some interesting jokes.

Imagine if John Amos had stayed until the end.........Would they have have even introduced those others?

I think they would've still added Penny since most sitcoms add a younger kid when the regular cast gets older.

Uh-huh! I wonder why they never learned that adding a younger kid does nothing for the show. For example, the Cosby show...when Rudy got older they added Olivia. You might disagree w/ me, but I really do not think that Olivia did justice for the show. Well, she was a better addition to Cosby Show than Penny was to GT. At least Olivia was somewhat funny. Penny wasn't funny at all.

that's the problem, adding a stupid little brat that does nothing for a show. You would think by now execs would see that before bringing on some lame kid. Penny was BORING. What they should have done, if they wanted to show child abuse, was just show the character of Penny being abused, and the Evans' helping out, without adding her to the show.

Bookman... I thought his character was annoying & so were the jokes that were made towards him. I cringe everytime Willona calls him buffalo butt! That was used too many times..

In seasons 1-3, I thought Wilona's character was too much (laughing and joking) and not need in as many episodes. After James left she had more interactions with Florida and was a main character in Season 5.

Later, Penny was not needed.
