Default Logarithms-Ashlee needs help

For the hell of it I'm gonna post these four questions and see if someone MIGHT know how to do them.

1) Using logs, find w to the nearest hundreth: 5^2w+9=40
*I subtracted 9...I just don't know where to go from there*

2) Given the log 4=x, express the log .004 in terms of x

3)Using logs, find x to the nearest tenth: 3^x=16

4)What is the log equation for the form: t=pi square root of l/g
*Don't know if there's a key code for pi or square root...yeah...*

Totally lost. I failed the test on this crap.

is this algebra 2? i'm never taking that but by trial and error i figured out #3 and got 2.5.. 3^2.5 = 15.588 and that would be as close as it gets to the nearest tenth. #2 i don't understand what they mean.

The way they do it in our school is A1, A2, B1, B2 and it's a little bit of everything in each course, just gets more difficult. I'm in B2, you're required to take up to that. Erm how did you get number three? Thanks for trying. It's effing insane

if 3^x = 16, x would have to be in between 2 and 3 for the result to be 16 (since those ones would be 9 and 27) so i put in random decimals after 2 and tried them and 5 was the closest result, which was 15.58. i guess if you add more digits you could get closer to 16 but it's just supposed to be the nearest tenth, and 3^2.6 = 17.39 which is further away from 16 than 15.58 is. if that made sense...

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Bah, she wants us to do it this difficult way though. That's what logs are I guess, a different way of doing this crap. It's a real pain in the ass. Thanks for trying, though.
