Default commentaries

i know this is all about people's preferences. but i have to ask...just what is it with you guys about commentaries??? i could care less. why would i want to watch a show and hear people talking over the episode instead of the dialogue?
i just want the shows COMPLETELY INTACT, video, dialogue, and music.

Well, for me, if you're familiar with the show, it's two-fold for something like Moonlighting. It's almost like an informal, free-style interview. And secondly you get to hear little tidbits that went into the thought process of doing the show and they whys and wherefores of things as well as little moments, like Bruce making the punch noises and where you can see it in the Pilot. It's just an added bonus of information that I for one immensely enjoy. And obviously, this wouldn't be the case so much for Moonlighting, LOL!, but when the whole cast did commentary for an episode of Joan of Arcadia, it was really fun hearing the cast interact and how great they got along. It's just fun, an extension of enjoying the show.

I'm not usually that big on listening to commentaries but in the case of ML I am def. interested. I love hearing the extra tidbits or what the actors and those involved remember about making certain scenes or eps. Commentaries, outtakes, deleted scenes, or any extras I would love to see on the ML DVDs.

I will watch the episode first with the dialogue, then I will watch it again and listen to the commentary. And then again and again and again with or without the added features. I really don't care if it is Bruce or Cybill or Glenn or a director etc. giving the info. I find it fascinating to hear the behind-the-scenes tidbits that are given, especially if the info is from BW or CY or Glenn.

I found the commentaries on the Pilot and My Fair David and Dream Sequence so interesting. For example, when BW talks about the scene in Dream Sequence when Cybill is singing in the black gown and that he comments how sexy she was in it - I just eat it up with a spoon.

I really felt that Glenn was truly enlightened when he watched the DVDs. I think he finally got it - that Cybill was fantastic in this role. Glenn has long given BW the acclaim that he deserved - it was doubly fantastic to hear that Cybill was terrific also.

For those of you who are not familiar with the interviews conducted by Moonlighting Strangers, much of what we uncover is what you will hear in the commentaries, as told by the creative talents who appeared on screen as well as off. So if you are interested in reading what went on behind the scenes for such fave episodes as "Big Man on Mulberry Street", "It's a Wonderful Job", "Atomic Shakespeare", "Blonde on Blonde" and more... check out our archive:

Thanks.

It's an individual thing, but I guess some people like the behind-the-scenes aspect of commentaries. You get to know not just what was in the script, which you can always know anyway, but things you would not normally be privy to, such as why people played a scene a certain way, what they thought about their own characters and so forth. When I watch a movie, I like to hear the comments from the director, because they can explain the symbolism in a shot, the filming process and a lot of other things.

Well, to each his own.

like said, it is a preference. i was just curious to know your appeals.
i like the behind the scence stuff too, but not while i am watching something. really, i bet i have seen GREASE and the Planet of the Apes movies probably 40 tiems a piece, and i can't see listienting to people talk through it.
i did try to do the commentary on the ML pilot dvd...for about 10 minutes. i had to stop. just couldn't get into it that way.

I can repeatedly listen to the commentaries on the Moonlighting DVDs.

I don't feel the same way about every movie. I have to really love something in order to care about listening to the commentaries. Because I love Moonlighting so much, I want to know as much as I possibly can about any of it.
