My high school (graduating class of 1983) mascot was (still is) a pirate. Because of our team mascot and the name of our team, THE RAIDERS, the street entrance leading to the school was legally changed to RAIDERS WAY. They really had to bolt those street signs because the first time, vandals made off with them. No doubt Los Angeles Raiders fans. At that time, they were the LA Raiders.

Prior to that, my old junior high were the "Flaming Arrows"

We were the Tigers and the street in front of our school was Tiger Trail. But I don't recall our street sign being stolen for whatever reason. Our colors were simply orange & black.

In middle school, we were the Rockets because we're right near Kennedy Space Center.
