Did anyone ever catch that guy Wadada that attacked a female New Mexico University student? This case was expecially creepy and frightening. From what I remember one of his hands was deformed.

I suspect that he's currently outside the U.S., which might explain why, despite having a disfigured hand, he's been hard to find.

Wow, he still hasn't been caught!! That is especially astounding since the attack occurred a long long time ago (like 1988 or something!) I was just wondering if anyone ever heard updated in relation to this case because it always haunted me, regarding its severity and brutality. It was remarkable that the female that was attacked was able to recover and gain some semblance of a normal life. Thanks Kane for you're reply, it sounds like it is still cold

You're welcome. And yes, unfortunately, the case still appears to be cold.

However, I recall that someone posted a message at this board last year, claiming to have seen a person that might have been. He/she reported that the person had a deformed hand, but was unable to remember which hand Wadada's hand was deformed. Myself and another board member posted replies, with the obviously mutual agreement that he/she should call the authorities and report what he/she saw. However, I never heard back as to whether this person had actually taken our advice.

In any case, I think that all of us who truly believe in public safety can agree on this: If there's a choice between reporting a potential fugitive to the authorities, only to have that person let go because it turned out that he wasn't a wanted fugitive; or, not contacting the authorities, only to find out too late that the person was a wanted fugitive, then the first choice would be the lesser of two evils.

So I have learned that, as a general rule, if the person looks similar to a wanted fugitive, but not 100% exact, contact the authorities anyway. This especially because fugitives have a tendency to alter their appearance in various ways, such as gaining weight, losing, weight, growing a beard, etc. But methods such as DNA and fingerprints will confirm their actual identity.
