NOVEMBER 16, 1966
"The Impractical Joker" (prod. #9723-Pt. 1) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. (EST) on ABC as the 55th episode of Batman. Kathy Kersh (Cornelia) was Burt Ward's bride at the time of this episode's production. Howard Duff later appeared with then-wife Ida Lupino in Season-3 Episode #1722, "The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra" (Mar. 7, 1968). Bruce, Dick and Alfred watch an episode of The Green Hornet (ABC, 1966-67)---prior to it being interrupted by The Joker's televised ultimatum!---little suspecting that a future 2-part segment ("A Piece of the Action/Batman's Satisfaction" [#9751, Mar. 1-2, 1967]) will pit Batman and Robin against The Green Hornet and Kato! NOVEMBER 17, 1966 "The Joker's Provokers" (prod. #9723-Pt. 2) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. (EST) on ABC as the 56th episode of Batman. Alan Napier does double duty as Alfred Pennyworth and his cousin Egbert. Alfred gives mention of his cousin in Episode #9739-Pt. 2, "The Mad Hatter Runs a Foul." Watch for The Joker to attempt (and fail!) at sabotaging The Gotham City Water System once again in Episode #9733-Pt. 3, "The Penguin Declines." The Alfcycle appears again in Episode #9729-Pt. 1, "Come Back Shame", and in Episode #9715-Pt. 2, "The Catwoman Goeth (a.k.a.) A Stitch in Time". NOVEMBER 16, 1967 "Surf's Up! Joker Under!" (prod. #1714) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. (EST) on ABC as the 104th episode of Batman. The surfing footage used in this segmant was borrowed from the 1966 Cinema V film The Endless Summer. The Jokemobile appears for the second and last time on Batman in this episode. During the surfing challenge, Batman is threatened by a shark. To counter it, he makes use of Shark Repellent Batspray--something which was first employed in the 1966 movie. Skip Ward (Riptide), one of the Joker's Henchmen in this episode also portrayed a character named Gil in Easy Come, Easy Go (1967) starring Elvis Presley. Gil was a character who helped try to steal Elvis' prospected sunken treasure. |
