I was watching today's episode on TVLAND (11/11) where Sam invites a new Italian family to come to Mayberry....and the town acts as if these new immigrants are social pariahs. I can't believe they leave this episode in the lineup these days. Anyone know how this episode was perceived when it was first aired?

I've often wondered if other episodes of the show were also perceived as insulting. Like in the episode where Ellie was running for town council. I'm surprised there weren't protests about the way Andy and the other men treated their wives.
