I am actually about to go back on Zoloft. I was on it before from 1999 to early 2004. Lately I felt like I need to go back on it. It helped a lot and when I went off of it I seemed to do fine without it. Of course, when you go off you have to gradually decrease the dose for the last few week.

Now that I'll be going back on it, I don't know how long I'll be on it, but I'll just take one day at a time.

Good luck!

I'm on Lexapro, Pamelar and Elavil. If I forget to take them even one day, I have a complete nervous breakdown. It's horrible how much I depend on them, but I'd rather be happy and suck down 6 pills a night than take nothing and end up at the bottom of a river.

Try going off of it for awhile (not cold turkey though! your doctor will tell you how to gradually get off of it). You'll never know if it's the meds or if you're just happier until you go without the Zoloft. During the off time, keep your doctor updated on how you feel.

I took Paxil and Zoloft in the 90's and they worked great. I unfortunatley was abrubtly taken off the meds bc insurance screw ups and I had bad withdrawl effects. If you go off them, go slowly. I have been off them for about 4-5 years and am doing ok,although sometimes I feel I could use something to take the edge off.Good luck.

My fiance's sister took Zoloft for a while, she went through some serious depression, she was sick all the time, etc. Well, they decided to put her on the stuff, and later after doing some X-rays they found out the had some unbelievably clogged sinuses, and that's why she had been so sick all the time. So she went on some 3 week antibiotic treatment or something... anyway,a fter she got her sinuses cleared up, she took it upon herself to go off Zoloft, not telling anyone. After about 2 months, she started going back to her old ways, just acting real depresses, pissed allt he time etc. So if you are going to go off, go off slowly and with your doctors orders in line.
