Bad News for DVD Season Sets for Night Court?

I hate to bring bad news, but I think I have to say this to get the fans of Night Court who have not bought season one to start buying that set. Warner Home Video has told me that they have no plans at this time for a season two DVD due to poor sales. This explains why they will be releasing a TV Favorites set in 2006, which features Markie Post episodes.

They have told me if you wish to see season sets, go out and buy the first season right now, if you haven't already, and buy the TV Favorites set when that comes out. Believe me, it WILL make a difference. It is a good thing they told us this information or fans of this smart sitcom would have lucked out. I agree with most fans that this sitcom didn't really make its stride until about season three, but what could we do?

So, if you are one of those fans who didn't buy season one because you thought the show really started going in season three, I suggest you buy season one right away. Go out and buy 5 copies and give them to your friends and family for Christmas, ohhhh-kay (as Bull would say)?

So... please buy Season 1 even if you haven't... or don't even like it, lol. Completels the collection. I even got a Season Set last year of a show that I didn't like all that much, I really just wanted to have the whole Collection. (but I have yet to still get S5 or S6, lol.) But I'm not really a fan anymore of that show, but I'd say I might get the rest in the future. Who knows?

But this is different I really like this show now, and just like you guys, want to see the rest of the Series on DVD!!

That's funny, because when I went to buy S1 when it first came out, the stores in my area (Best Buy) were sold out and it was a couple of weeks before they had more. I'm not sure what 'adequate' sales would have been by the studio's standards, but given that it was barely advertised and still was selling out at retail, they probably made money on it. Now that they have the built-in publicity of Night Court airing on TV Land, this would probably be the best time to release a couple of more seasons.

Guess I'm a little ticked - they (WHV) treat it like a minor release, almost like it was an afterthought, and then complain about minor sales. That's somewhat hypocritical. On the other hand, I'm not ticked enough to by more copies of a dvd set that I already have.

So what if S2 doesn't come out in the full! I mean I didn't really liked S2 very much to begin with. Now if S3 comes out, then it'll be a whole another story.

This is going to be a problem for a lot of tv series that didnt really hit their stride until a season or two after it first came on. I'm one of those that didnt care much for the first two seasons of Night Court, instead preferring seasons 3-6. This is when Markie Post finally joined the cast and Reinhold Weege was still overseeing the show. It seems like after Reinhold left as executive producer the show seemed to lose some of its punch.


It seems like Warner Brothers would've tested the waters first, to see what the interest was in the earlier seasons of Night Court, before putting out the first season.

They should release season 1 and 2 together when a show like this has a LIMITED 1st season. I mean season 1 is only a 2 disc set, and some people though it was overpriced for that reason, they should release season 1 and 2 in a 5 disc set for like $35 and it woudl sell better


like they did with DALLAS 1 and 2

Generally if they won't release a second season, they won't release a third.
