Default My '69 Cadillac In Movie Scene

Last week, one of my Cadillac friends said a car locater was interested in using my triple black '69 Fleetwood Brougham for a movie being filmed. So I made a call and agreed to have them use my car along with 7 others in return of payment of $350.

The movie is called "Zodiac Killer" and won't be released until late next year- the filming will go on until February or March, 2006.

I took my car over there yesterday and pretty much what I did was wait. From about 2:30 PM until 8:00 PM. I wasn't at the filming location, which was in a gated area off Wilshire Blvd in Hancock Park, the whole time. But every time I went into the area, my car was parked in a different place. First a little down the street, then right in front of the house, then across the street from the house. It was fun to watch the filming, but they sure did film the same scene over and over. Even simple scenes... one called for two actors to get out of one of the movie cars (not mine) and walk to the front doors of the house. They did that scene at least 6 times (takes). The first take looked fine to me!

Anyway, the car locater has my '69 on file and I told her I would send pics of my '70 Sedan de Ville and '76 limo.
Here is the car locater website:

Cool

That's cool Fleet!

Just get it in writing that it's not going to be used in a car chase scene, or worse, a crash.

I asked the car locater about that. She said that every scene is planned in advance and cars used in crash scenes are ones bought from wrecking yards or other places. A car owner is told what their car will be doing in the scene(s). Mine was parked in the street... just to make the movie audience believe that the scene is from 1969- that's when the movie is set.

The big question is... am I supposed to split the money with Sitcoms Online members?

Well, you should only have to wait about one more year!

Awesome. It's really cool that one of your Cadillacs are going to be in a movie.

Okay. I'm wondering how much of it was filmed. I think probably just parked on the street. But that's good enough.

That's awesome Fleet! I'll look out for your car when I see the movie, I hope it makes it in there!

I'm also very excited to see the movie cuz the case took place in San Francisco and parts of the movie was shot here on location. Well, that's not a good thing that the murders took place at all, but heeeeyyy, that's my hometown on the big screen!

No, I don't think they would use a car worth thousands of $ to do that!
BTW, that looks like a first-generation ('76-'79) Cadillac Seville in the photo.

That's right... the first scenes were shot in San Francisco. I was asking the car locator those kind of questions. She was asked to ship 15 cars to S.F. of which the cars would be there two weeks and the owners would receive $1,000 each.
