You know what? I actually am upset that they made JJ stop saying "dynomiiite!" I mean, it was that catch phrase that made his character more fun. I think that if they didn't stop saying it, we would have loved his character more. For example, Haywood Nelson's character, Dwayne, from "What's Happenin'!!"...we all knew that his catch phrase was "Uh-uh!" He did that even in the seasons when he was older, and his character was still very lovable. That is one of the main things his character was known for just like "dynomiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite" was what JJ's character was known for. Therefore, maybe if they let JJ continue to say his catch phrase, the show would have continued to be fun to watch.

I know some people don't like JJ's catchphrase... but I agree with you... it brought an element of fun and craziness to the show. Yes they tried to fit it in at awkward moments, yes you could see it coming but it was a sitcom and JJ made it a riot!

It wasn't the catch phrase that was funny, it was his antics that were funny. He stopped being a clown and that hurt the show.

Dwayne's "Uh-uh" wasn't that funny and was totally overused.

Maybe they wanted to appeal to a younger audience... kids would've loved someone as animated as JJ, and they clearly did.

I agree too... Good Times was quite a heavy sitcom anyway and it sure did need lightening up!
