Cool I saw the American Ballet Theatre in NYC today!

I celebrated my fortieth birthday by going to a matinee of the American Ballet Theatre - my first live ballet performance ever! I never had anything agaisnt ballet until an Engilish ladyfriend of mine livign in New York (she knows who she is) got me much more interested in it.

Anyway, ABT perfromed a new work choreogrpahed by Peter Quanz, Kaleidoscope, costumed and lighted in shades of blue and lavender and performed by dancers emulating the kind of kaleidoscpoe toys you looked in and turned as a kid. Very pretty. "Afternoon of a Faun," a Jerome Robins classic, was very sweet and touching, and a very athletic, angular nine-part ballet by Twyla Tharp, "In the Upper Room," closed out the set.

Oh yeah, a pas de deux titled "Le Corsaire" was included, featuring Jose Manuel Carreno from Havana, Cuba, an dstraight of Buenos Aires, Argentina. . . .

Paloma Herrera!!

This was the first time I saw her dance in person! Oh, my God - what a dancer! She leaps and twirls with perfection! And she is so freakin' gorgeous! I never knew ballet could be so sexy!!

Is it hot in here?

I've always wanted to go to the ballet myself, but I'de never get Rob to go. I was however thinking of taking my mother to see "The Nutcracker" this Christmas, she may be losing her ability to walk very soon, and she has always wanted to go to see the ballet as well. I'm glad you had a good time, Steve!

Ballet on a Sunday, instead of football? You're not a real man.

Kidding.

It sounds like you saw a great performance.

Thnaks, I did have a good time.

Don't take it personbally, by the way, but I don't think I want to be married to someone on SO. I'd prefer to be married to, oh, I don't know, some lovely, athletic brunette from Buenos Aires. . . .

Just triyng to get the thread back on topic.
