Default Phylicia Rashad...aka I HATE CLAIR HUXTABLE thread

I watched Bravo and the Cosby reunion show. Phylicia states that her character and Cliff were THEE most romantic couple on EVER TO BE ON TELEVISION. Whoopdeedoo...I don't think so. There were so many before their show, and even some after that show. The fact that those two characters never argued left them nothing to do, but to be romantic, nice to each other and all the syrupy stuff.

Lucy and Ricky Ricardo had arguments and they made up. They were romantic.
John Steed and Emma Peel on the Avengers
David & Maddie from Moonlighting.

How can a couple be so romantic when the wife is so controlling of her husband. She have not seen Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter Birney, Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, Craig T. Nelson and Shelley Fabares and Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York. Those were romantic couples.

Also Tom & Abby Bradford from "Eight is Enough"
and besides, who is to say only married couples. Phylicia didn't say married couple. I really can't stand her now. Where does she get off with saying such an untruth?

I can think of a lot of couples that were more romantic. I think Wilbur and Mr. Ed had more chemistry than Cliff and Clair. ( okay bad example).

A few other couples that were more romantic than Cliff and Clair:

Herman and Lily Munster
Gomez and Morticia Addams
Mike and Carol Brady
Ward and June Cleaver
Jim and Margaret Anderson
Fred and Wilma Flintstone
Betty and Barney Rubble
George and Gracie Allen
Clark Tyson and Jan Brady
Dr. Vogel and Marcia Brady
Bobby Brady and Millicent (played by Melissa Sue Anderson)
Greg Brady and his Math Teacher, Linda
Mike and Gloria Stivic
Archie and Edith Bunker
Thurston and Lovey Howell

The list goes on...

I can't stand Rashad... not only is she a terrible sitcom actress, but she's the most smug, condescending person ever to play a sitcom mom....

Oh Jefferson Fan And Tweety, you both are awesome..what a list of ROMANTIC COUPLES. I can't stand Phylicia either. I swear, it never seems to amaze me how she goes on and on abt that show as if anything before and since doesn't matter.

And to think 20 years ago this Thanksgiving, after Phylicia did the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for NBC, she got another surprise when Ahmad Rashad proposed to her from Detroit.

That marriage lasted 16 years.

That's right...Ahmad probably got tired of her crap too...he didn't want to marry a control freak...he wanted someone who would be his equal, not have ego trips. Maybe if she put MORE ROMANCE in her marriage, she would still be married.

I wonder if Debbie Allen is a control freak?

I wouldn't doubt it, her sister played one so well for so long.

man you people are rought, Cliff and Claire were the best tv couple of the 80's. The fact that they kissed and were seen in bed a lot proves that. A lot of great couples were mentioned, but you could never picture them actually having a sexual relationship. On the Cobsby show you could!! She is a great actress too

I think Maggie and Jason Seaver of Growing Pains were the one tv couple of the 80's where I could picture a sexual relationship. They were hot together.
