Default The kitchen finally showed on What's Happening Now

I wondered why it was never shown on the original series. I always wanted to see what it looked like back then. I can't believe the show ran for 3 years and they never showed the kitchen, especially when half te time, the show took place at the house.

Good observation. They always made reference to it such as Mama walking in there with groceries or Dee being sent in there to do chores. You would have thought more scenes with Mabel would have been in there with her cooking and talking to the kids.

That would have been fun to see. It would have given Mabel more of a place in the house and in the show. We got to see Raj's bedroom, Dee's bedroom and even Shirley's place. But Mabel was confined to the living room for the most part walking to and from the kitchen or up and down the stairs. Funny thing is that the kitchen in WHN!! is exactly how I would have picture it to look.

True and you the guys could have been in there at the kitchen counter talking about how hungry they were or something. We never saw Mabel's bedroom either or the bathroom in the house. We did see Mabel's place of employment where she was fired then rehired.

Interesting that the kitchen was the way you pictured it. I notice that there were slight variations to the house from WH to WHN. It would have been nice to see what the outside would have looked like.

Yes, good point. The outside did look different between the 2 shows. Plus, there was an opening at the bottom of the stairs on WHN!!

Did you ever notice how similar the shows old set was to Sanford & Son? And we got to see the kitchen on Sanford & Son. It was much bigger than what I pictured Mabel's kitchen to look like. I would say the size matched my imagination on WHN!!

I just watched the episode where Mabel got fired and rehired last night. It's fun to see different sets on the show. It gives you a new surrounding to look at.

it's funny that you mentioned that, because both shows DID use the same set.

Seriously??? I thought I had heard that somewhere but then I thought I must have dreamt it up because it looked so similar. How did they manage that? Was Sanford & Son over before WH!! I'm guessing?

Sanford and Son was made in 1972, WH came in 1976. Sanford and Son also used the same set as Chico and the Man. (1974)

And Sanford & Son ran until 1977, right? So there was a time when WH! and S&S were sharing sets? And Chico? I wonder how they managed to constantly switch the stuff on the set since S&S had a lot of junk on their set. Maybe they didn't want to move out all of the kitchen stuff and that's why we never got to see Mabel's kitchen. This is so interesting.

How could WH and S&S share the same sets if they were on Different Networks? The sharing between Chico and the Man and S&S makes more sense because they were both on NBC
