Default Fred Berry on What's Happening

I had heard that during What's Happening, Fred Berry began to demand more money, and I think he demanded something like $1 million dollars. I thought Rerun was great on the show, but I don't think that he merited $1 million dollars. What does everyone think?

By the end of season 1 and the start of season 2 I definitely could have done without rerun. That boy strated getting on my nerves!

He's not all that.

Shirley however deserved 1/2 a million.

I don't know about Fred Berry demanding big bucks while he was on the original show, but I do know that he demanded a big salary hike while he was on What's Happening Now!!, the revival show from the mid-'80s. The producers told him to take a hike and the show limped on for one more season.

Considering that Fred Berry didn't exactly do anything very big - or just anything for that matter - in the time between both series, he should have been grateful to have a steady job again and kept his mouth shut. Perhaps What's Happening Now!! could have run a few seasons more if the cast had been kept intact.

Rerun was the star of this show. And that's why What's Happening Now wasn't the same after he left

I'm not denying that Fred Berry wasn't a big part of the show - no pun intended - but he thought a little too much of himself and shot himself (and the show) in the foot. It's not like he did anything outside the show after he left.

To me, Rerun was not that big of a star on the show. He was an asset, but Roger Thomas was the leader of the pack.
