Even if he was the main character, he was very much overworked.
If you see any photos of him after the show was cancelled, he is extremely thin. |

Maybe "workload" is not exactly the word I'm looking for. I'd say, it's more like too much "favoritsm" towards Herman. I mean, you do have 4 other main characters, and a variety of pets, they could have given Fred a break from time to time.
