I have yet some more questions about some cases profiled on UM.
One involves the case of a woman who was a teller at a bank in Florida. I believe her name was Lisa Lee or something similar to that and she allegedly stole half a million dollars from the bank she worked at and disappeared. This case was profiled in 1991. Does anyone know if she was ever caught? I searched for her name and couldn't find anything. Hope someone remembers seeing this case. Another case was profiled in 1988. I believe from looking at the episode guide that this may have been the first official episode of UM after the specials aired. Anyway, it was about a woman (named Gail, I think) who was taking out personal ads in the paper to meet men and then she just disappeared. Her purse and car keys were found near where her car was abandoned. Has she ever been found? Another question about the 1982 murder of Hilda Roche, which has been discussed here briefly before. If the police found her shoeprint inside the murderer's car and he wasn't apprehended in 1991, how did they get her footprint out of his car? That seems like a long time for a print to stay in a car and I would think he would have noticed it over 9 year's time and gotten rid of it. Did he take her to the woods in his car or did he perhaps rent a car and the shoeprint was found in that car back when the murder actually happened. That case still sends chills down my spine. That poor woman--just out to meet a nice guy and ends up getting raped, stuck in a trunk, led into the woods and shot to death execution style and naked nonetheless. I'm glad they caught the creep who did this to her. Thanks for any info you can provide! |

The first case you mentioned is a blur to me, although I've seen numerous UM cases similar to it. Can you remember anything else about?
The second case was a woman named Gail Delano (of Brusnwick, Maine). Sadly, she killed herself. She was found dead of a drug overdose in Alabama shortly after her 1986 disappearance, but she remained unidentified for over two years. That is, until UM aired a story about her in the fall of 1988. As for the Hilda Roche case, maybe it was merely a fluke that her shoeprint was discovered in Richard Gregory Barker's car? Maybe Barker didn't clean the car to the point where the shoeprint was completely washed away? We may never know. But what I do know is this: Barker agreed to a 50-year prison sentence in a deal to avoid the possibility of the death penalty. |

The first case you referred to is Lesa Lee. She was of Jamaican descent (I remember that because someone on this board talked what a horrible Jamaican accent the actress who played her had). She was the head bank teller where she worked and robbed her own bank of $500,000. Her story was she was being blackmailed and took the money out of fear. She promised the bank her father would pay them back and then abruptly disappeared. I don't know if she's been captured or not.
