This error message has been popping up after at least a hour of being on my comp untill then it works perfectly but after that time evertime i click on a application i get insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service its like something is running in the background that making it go crazy i also see a lot of cpu actvity with taskmanager i ran norton antivirus,spy sweeper,registy mechanic,comes up nothing wrong ran it in safe mode nada im all out of ideas C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe

i don't SEE any malware in there - but it definately looks like you have a LOT of pointless programs running that are just using resources for no reason (why do you need GoBack AND System Restore both running?)
although you could get a second opinion by posting your log at http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

is this an HP Mediacenter PC, or have you added a lot of media-intensive programs after the fact? if the machine isn't fast enough, it may not be able to keep up with everything that you have running.

check out a good services guide to see what you can uninstall or disable, do a thorough disk cleanup (www.ccleaner.com) and figure out what program is trying to start when you get this error (is there any more specific error info?)

I'm not a big fan of Spy Sweeper, I would suggest you run Spybot, AdAware or MS Antispyware just to get a second opinion as to the existence of spyware, do all of your Windows Updates, update your antivirus software and run another scan in safemode

its kind of a long shot, but this might be a good test of something I've wanted to try out in the field - there is a new kind of spyware that installs itself at the system rootlevel which allows it to hide itself from system processes like the task manager and spyware/antivirus tools, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try and run this tool created to find these Rootkits and see if it finds anything:

thanks rob for the advice i will clean up deleting some of this apps i dont even use to see if that fix's the problem also running the spyware programs u suggested will post later with the results thanks for the help
