Default Rerun was a Rocket in real life

Remember the episode Rerun joins a dance group called the Rockets, but they only want him because of his weight.

They were played by a dance troop called the Lockers. And before What's Happening!!, Fred Berry was part of that group. Also Toni Basil was in the group. You can see them preform on the 3rd episode of Saturday Night Live, (hosted by Rob Reiner). And I think Fred broke a light bulb when they preformed on SNL.

I started a thread abt this topic two months ago...

I really loved the episode that featured the dancing troupe, "The Lockers". They were, in my eyes, the ones that broke the door down for break dancing. The way the Lockers danced was amazing. I really enjoyed people who danced like that. So when break dancing started in the 80's, I kinda laughed because I knew where it came from. Fred Berry was a member of this dance troupe. I put a link here which talks about the beginning of this group as well as the dance style in general. Take a look:

Weren't some members of the Lockers extras in the first episode "The Runaway", in the party scene when Rerun was dancing at the party? And did one of the Lockers play Reruns dancing rival in the Disco Contest episode?

You know, it's been a long while since I have seen What's Happening, so I look forward to the marathon on TVLand so I can see and REVIEW the episodes on this forum...I could probably check it out on the internet. Not sure.
