I remember seeing The Evil Dead in the theater around '83 or '84. It didn't seem the same when I watched it when it was released on videotape.

The original early 70's Texas Chainsaw Massacre is great to watch on a big screen.

Titanic, and The Passion were really good in the theatres. I agree with those choices. I think any movie with great special effects is best if seen in theatres. You can't fully appreciate them on a small screen. Also, sports movies, particularly football ones are best on the big screen.

I think the Spiderman movies are best seen in theatres than on DVD and VHS. I saw both movies in the theatre and I was amazed at the effects of both movies, especially Spiderman 2.

The 1976 King Kong remake really looses some when seen on TV compared to the theatre.

i am so in agreement with you. I saw that in the theatre and it was awesome, just so intense. seeing it on tv or vhs(i have the vhs) just does NOT do it justice. You can't get the intensity of it. How huge King Kong really is. Same thing with Jaws, you need the feeling of the loud speakers, the feeling that you are in the water, you can't get that on t.v.
Passion of the Christ, my God, never has any movie made me cry all the way through. The sounds were so loud, I could feel it go thru all my body and the feeling of being right there. so intense.

One of my favorite movies ever "Jaws" I always have wanted to see on the big screen. It would be so awesome! And also "Poltergeist" I never go to the movies but I do regret especially those two films that I never saw on the big screen.

Any "blockbuster" scale movie (e.g., the Star Wars films, etc.) One thing that
annoys me is DVDs that are released in the letterbox format, esp. since the
only DVD player that I have is on my computer. I don't even like when they
show certain TV programs in letterbox format. But at least my TV screen is
bigger than my computer screen!

the letterbox format annoys alot of people, yet, it allows viewers to see what they would see if they saw this same movie in the theatre, except, on a much smaller scale. no hoopla, no excitement, nada. I wish you could have seen Jaws in a movie theatre, it's no comparison. They should have played it in the theatres when it was the 25th Anniversary of the movie.

"Speed" was mentioned. Yes, I saw that in the movie theatre and it was great.
