Exclamation Nathaniel Taylor News

Nathaniel Taylor who played Rollo Lawson on the show was one of my favorite characters on the show.

I looked him up on the movie database www.imdb.com and saw that he has a small part in a movie scheduled to be released in 2006 called Americanese where he plays car buyer #2.

I know the show was done 30 yrs ago but its hard to believe Nathaniel is 67 yrs old now would love to see a recent photo of him.

Its sad that such a talented comedic actor isnt finding more work simply because he's 67 now. I would love to see him get a good role on a current sitcom

I always assumed since Rollo and Lamont were best friends. That they were both about the same age retrfo. But he was between 35 and 40 when he was on the show and I think Demond was between 25 and 30

Didn't Esther once ask, "Aren't you Rita Lawson's boy Rollo?" I would assume Rollo was his real name.

Maybe he had a bad reputation as an actor. I know Desmond Wilson was heavy into drugs, maybe Nathaniel Taylor was too and wasn't easy or reliable to work with.

Well I hope it wasnt because they had bad reps as dopers. In my honest opinion I dont think it was. I think both Demond and Nathaniel got typecast Demond as a dumb son type character in or from the ghetto.

and Nathaniel as this jive talkin skirt chasin cool black dude character that studios quit using on tv comedies many yrs ago and the studios and networks think thats all they can play but Demond is also busy with his ministry

Another factor we have to realize besides drugs/attitde and typecasting. It's hard for older actors especially older black actors to get tv/movie acting roles and Nathaniel is between 65 and 70 now.Morgan Freeman is the only older black actor that I know gets regular big movie roles.

John Amos gets an occassional movie or tv role usually not recurring or starring. Its sad that Hollywood has such a bias against good older actors
