Default What anyone's take on men that don't watch sports?

Last week, a friend of mine were talking sports with a bunch of people. My friend then asked this one dude who his football team was. The dude said he didn't follow sports. Afterwards, my friend told me he had a problem with a man that don't watch sports because he questions their manhood. I told him that he would be surprised how many men don't follow sports, and how many women that do. Me, I don't care. If a man don't watch sports, that's his perrogative.

Yeah, I agree with you. Just because he doesn't like sports, doesn't mean he isn't manly. He may be more in to music or movies(like many of us on this board! )

It's like saying a woman who doesn't like to shop isn't feminine. It's a stereotype, and frankly, who cares?

Well isnt that the most sterotypical thing ive ever heard? Men arent born with a liking for sports. What, did the guy that said that have a 2nd grade education?

Where I come from - i.e., America - if you're a boy, you don't have a liking for sports and you spend time in more, umm, intellectual pursuits, you get beaten up a lot. And if like soccer. . . , they really think you're a weirdo and they beat you up and give you atomic wedgies!

It doesn't mean ****. It means you don't like sports and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'll take those guys over the annoying, sports maniacs and their skills in gym and yelling at you for sucking at gym and being on their team anyday...er...

I don't think it has anything to do with their "manhood", but people should keep up on sports (even if minimally) just so they don't get lost in conversations.

Why are some of you tying in intellect with not liking sports? I just don't see a connection.

I don't follow sports. I like to watch a baseball game every once in a while, but that's about it. I blame it on my older brother who was such a jock when I was a kid that he pushed all this aggressive sports crap on me. I was too much of an intellectual and an aesthete, and he ragged on art and stuff--only because he wasn't artistic himself. I would cringe when he criticized my art projects and cartoons, but then I realized he most likely felt inadequate about being a BIG DUMB JOCK. I still haven't fully forgiven him after thirty years.

Girls like artistic, sensitive types.

I don't care either way, as long as they aren't drunk.

A working knowledge of NASCAR is nice though.
