Default Why no TV Guide tribute article for Don?

Bob Denver got one, why not Don Adams? At least I didn't see one. Very disappointed......

You are not alone. I addressed this oversight on another message board. As
I stated there, I would assume that, as in years past (at least since 1998), TV Guide plans to publish a special tribute issue--to the all the stars we lost in 2005--at the end of the year. I would hope so (they also ignored another fine comedian, Louis Nye).

This past year we also lost Johnny Carson, Ossie Davis, Brian Kelly, Barney Martin, Paul Henning, Frank Gorshin, Howard Morris (who directed the GET SMART pilot), Eddie Albert, Lane Smith, Paul Winchell, Kevin Hagen, James Doohan, Richard Eastham, Nipsey Russell, and Debralee Scott. Some of these were remembered in previous issues (Carson, I'm sure was), but others were not.

Default WHY?

Because the TV GUIDE published these days is far different from the one that
WOULD have paid tribute- even slightly- to Don Adams. Ever see their recent book of "collectible covers"? They're selling the "sizzle", not the "steak". Plus the fact that the magazine is now firmly a "synergistic" part of the News Corporation empire (which includes Fox and ANYTHING associated with it) is another reason. How many times do you want to read about "AMERICAN IDOL"
or "24" or "PRISON BREAK" or "THE SIMPSONS" or "FAMILY GUY" on those pages EVERY WEEK??????

Exactly! Like LIFE magazine (which has been reduced to a skimpy weekend
newspaper insert), the TV GUIDE magazine that we knew and loved for five
decades no longer exists. Sad but true. "The times are a-changin'" (and not
for the better).

I'm sure whoever runs TV Guide now probably has no idea who Don Adams even was.

Well, at least they did mention him (and included a photo) in their "In Memoriam"
feature in the Dec. 26, 2005 issue. It seems ironic to me that since TV GUIDE
enlarged their format, they have proportionately shrunk the content of their
magazine! (I predict that their much-heralded annual "Fall Preview" issue this
year can probably be read in a minute or two!)

Don Adams also deserved a PEOPLE magazine cover story. They gave ones to
other departed TV stars, such as Jackie Gleason, Lucille Ball, Sammy Davis Jr.,
Jim Henson, Michael Landon, Fred MacMurray, Audrey Meadows, and Bob Hope.
The people who are running the magazines today seem to have little regard for
our television heritage, I guess.
