I found out yesterday this show had 6 Feature Stories inside TV Guide between September of 1977 and December of 1977 and I was curious to know was it because the show was

A)Very Controversial

B)Good

C)Doing Well in The Ratings

D)All the Above

More than anything it was because some people found it controversial. It was the first series, definitely the first sitcom I personally remember that had a "parental discretion is advised" message before the episodes.

yeah - they had people trying to have the show pulled off the air before it even AIRED!

it was one of the first shows to feature an openly gay character, and the storyline where Corinne "seduces" a priest away from the church had people up in arms....

AND the show was hilarious
