Default Did Big Earl and Little Earl serve any purpose?

The only thing they did for the viewers were irritate them. They didn't bother me when I was a little kid (I was probably Little Earl's age), but as an adult I have to think "Who the h*ll thought they would make interesting characters?" Little Earl is especially irritating. Big Earl is so dumb. Are we supposed to believe he is really a detective? I know it is a comedy and everything, but these guys were lame. Did they help destroy the popularity of the show?

They were just a part of the problem during season 3, but they were a problem none the less.

Anyone have a pic or screencap of these two? I've trawled the internet and found nothing. They're so infamous, I need to see them!

You've never seen any Season 3 episodes of this show before? I know little Earl was played by David Hollander. Try a search on him. I'll have to go back and see who plays Big Earl.

I did my Google and IMBD searches but nothing came up really.

And no I've not seen any season 3 episodes. I don't live in the US, so get zero re-runs... literally! I only remembered "What's Happening" as a very young boy in the very late 70's/early 80's. But buying the dvds brought back all the memories. I was reluctant to buy Season 3 on dvd from all the negative comments.

I did a search and came up pretty much empty handed too. Wow, they must be hated so much that nobody wants to scan their picture for the net! There has to be something somewhere on these dudes.

They were indeed useless characters, I tend to skip their episodes now.

The entire show was shaken up in season 3. Mama was gone and she was the character to put Raj and Dee in their place. Most scenes were no longer at the house so they needed a stable apartment character to add to the show. But they were annoying for sure but when you cut out a major character, you need balance with new ones. Dee was older too so they tried to bring a cuter and younger character to chase Dee.

I was able to tolerate earl and his son more than Snake. That goofy basketball player who always looked like he had no idea where he was
