This message only appears after installing Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. There is no apparent way to disable this message, and information on the http://support.microsoft.com web site is not easily found.
To disable the Print Notification messages: 1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar. 2. Click "Printers and Faxes." If your Start Menu is in Classic mode, you will need to click "Settings" and then "Printers and Faxes." 3. Click the File menu in the Printer and Faxes window that appeared. 4. Click "Server Properties." 5. Click the Advanced tab in the Print Server Properties window that appeared. 6. Uncheck "Show informational notifications for local printers." This will disable notification messages for printers directly connected to the computer. 7. Uncheck "Show informational notifications for network printers." This will disable notification messages for printers that are shared on the network. 8. Click "OK" in the Print Server Properties window. 9. Close the Printers and Faxes Window. After completing these steps, the print notification messages will no longer appear when you print. If you want to turn the notifications back on, follow the steps again and check the options listed in steps 6 and 7. |

does it do the same thing if you print from Notepad or any other program? if this is a local printer attached to your computer, I believe that this is a function of the printer driver, what make and model is the printer, and what does it actually say on this 'notification page'? |
