Default my Lily Munster dress

Hey I just wanted to share pics of a Lily Munster dress I made for my sister. Sadly she is a bit too busty and this did not fit her well at all. I supose its going to have to go into storage for someone else, another halloween. I was really looking forward to seeing someone in it. I went with a smokey amethyst rather than white /grey becuase I think it looks better in person. I also still need to put the armholes into the chiffon sleeves.

WOW! Not bad! Try to sell it on eBay. I'm sure you'll get a heck of a lot of bids on it.

I would also like to add, it seems that Munsters popularity has very much increased in recent years. Busts of Herman and Grandpa, model kits of the Munsters house and cars, The re-creation of the entire Munsters mantion in Texas, Lily's dress, the release of the first and second seasons.

I'm really impressed! 41 years later, and it's just as popular, maybe even more popular. Incredible!

Excellent job, MajorNelson! Bravo! As you made it, did you make a pattern for it? Where did you find the bat necklace? I think it's very cool!

Where's the pictures of your sister, though?

My best,
Dirt

Yes, I made a pattern to build the outfit, but its not tradional. Im a "draper" and work best with the person there in front of me to make adjustments. Those cape sleeves were the absolute worst thing to figure out.

Whenever I build a costume I try to make all of the neccesary accessories to go with it. I prefer authenticity. I made the bat necklace (and sell copies and display stands) as well as custom costumes and props. They can be ordered through my website (check bio) Its nice that universal released a liscensed Lily outfit this year, but it leaves a lot to be desired when you're looking for the real deal.

As for pics of my sister, well, shed kill me but the only thing I think I have is her as Catwoman from a million years ago. I would love to remake the costume now that rubberized lycra is everywhere, it was very difficult to find when the movie came out. My favorite part was making the leather gloves with the thimble/bodkin claws...she needed a real whip too that one sucked. Sorry dirt, her boobs are kinda mushed in there LOL

Very nice and thank you! A very lovely specimen, indeed. (I think it was Letterman who said that.) But I meant of her in the dress. Or did it not get to that point? Just wondering.

My wife is the one who asked about the pattern. I don't know where she'd ever wear it, but she thought it was cool. The bat necklace, too.

My best,

LOL...no it did not get to the point of photographs when she tried it on, it was just a fitting.
However I have good news, there is a girl I work with who has agreed to wear it to our annual Halloween parade there, unfortunatley I now have to whip up a Herman costume to present with her on Monday. We're going to play the theme music and act out a little of the credits, "Lily sending Herman off to work with his giant lunchpail and a kiss goodbye" I dont know if I can create a convincingly authentic outfit for myself on such short notice,(let alone that makeup!) I will most likely have to resort to thift shop goods, something I normally try to avoid doing as I get a real thrill out of making this stuff by hand.

Since you'll be using the Season 1 version credits, I'm sure this will come in handy. Here is a lightweight high quality MP3 version of the Season 1 opening theme.

Default music

WOW thats great thanks! I only have the TeeVee Tunes version, a wacky lounge version from the Ultra Lounge collection (T.V. Town volume), and one that was credited to Rob Zombie from Morpheus.

Heres a question...I dont have any music editing software, is there a way to shortcut/avoid the finale and continually loop the sountrack (by using repeat on my portable cd player) relatively seamlessly to the beginning to use as ambient music while we're milling about?

I don't think there is a way. The only thing I can think of, is to connect the theme with itself a few times over.
