First off, their jobs weren't all dat. Second off, as far as I remember, they never had access to a car. SOOOOOOOOOOO...how did the kids and Flo learn to drive then? Has anyone ever thought about this?

i guess they all got their licenses OFF CAMERA-lol It was a Off screen driving test at the DMV

How about that? Remember the episode where JJ and his buddies bought Bookman's car. It seemed that JJ and Thelma both drove. He gave her the keys to it, only to find out that it didn't have any gas. LOL

as far as Flo driving, regarding the school bus, she would have been taught or trained for that. I remember this girl who wanted to drive a school bus but she didn't have a license. they trained her and then she went and applied for a license.

as for Thelma and J.J. who knows....

Well back then and till this day, Some High Schools teach drivers ed. So I would think that's how Thelma and JJ learned how to drive. And like Irene said Florida could have been trained.

I am so glad someone brought this up. I was wondering about that this morning. I was thinking about the ep when JJ and his friends bought that car and Thelma wanted to drive it. They must have gotten licenses off camera.

aaaah, so true Brie...yep, in high school we had drivers' ed...but still, wouldn't they have had to have a car to go to the dmv to drive for the instructor and obtain a license? that's how I know it to be to get one.

They could have taken the L or the bus, public transportation all the way. A couple transfers and they are there in no time.

I think what Irene means is, to get your drivers license you have to take a road test at the DMV and you have to have your own car to use, so who's car did they borrow to take the test.

I guess it all depends, Thelma could have borrowed one of her boyfriends cars. I know that they could have known someone with a car. Just because you live in the ghetto doesn't mean that all of your friends and family are broke and in the ghetto.
