Default Doobie Brothers episode

Ok, I have seen that two-parter episode many many times. When I saw it the first time, I said the same thing then that I say now. Was that a very very very short concert or what? Or, were we supposed to assume that the concert went on longer, we just got a sample of it?

Not only that Irene, it did seem like a short concert, but when Rerun dropped that tape recorder, notice the entire audience stopped. How the hell a whole audience is going to stop jamming to that concert to pay attention to Rerun dropping his tape recorder?! How phony!

Oh yeah!!!! that was stupid too. Yeah, I am jamming along with the music, and I'm gonna notice a tape recorder being dropped. Not only that, but the band members even noticed. I don't know abt anybody else, but when I would watch my ex-husband play in his band, the lights would hit on the band a certain way, the music is loud, the band is playing, they are not going to notice something like that. Real phoney. They should have done it some other way.

This was always one of my favorite episodes. Which Doobie you be? Imagine seeing Mike McDonald with black hair, and Patrick Simmons and Skunk Baxter, it was good to see the whole band together again. When music was real. The Doobies were cool!!!

But I think we were supposed to use our imagination, and think it was a long concert.

Your right Irene, I have friends who are in small bands and they are too busy jamming or the lights get in their eyes and all they notice are shadows, they would never have notice someone with a tape recorder. Now that was unrealistic.

Didn't the entire audience go silent once the Doobies stopped playing?

You know, as eager as I was to watch this particular episode, and having had two opportunities to watch it...I MISSED IT BOTH TIMES!!!!!! Damn Damn Damn!!!! i am thinking (remembering) that the tape recorder fell, and that the audience and the music stopped at the same time. Anyone recall?

I love the Doobie Brothers. I used to think that was one of the band member's last name. Whoa, I was wrong there. for those who don't know what doobie means, it is a slang word for marijuana joint. I have their greatest hits. Their music was HOT. Before, during and after Michael McDonald. Just a real hot rock and roll band.

The concert was over and the fans were on their feet when Rerun dropped the tape recorder. I'm vaguely familiar with the Doobie Brothers music, but that instrumental thing in the middle (with the guy using the flaming hammer into the gong) sounded more like something Genesis, Yes, ELP, etc. would have done in their act.

Kevin...

thanx for the info.

as for that instrumental deal during the concert, i always hated that part of the "concert". I wish they had played a better song. I didn't like that GONG.

I guess Gongs were big in the '70's.

I didn't quite understand why Jeff "Skunk" Baxter was waving his arms around like that toward the end of Black Water. It was a strange sight.

I think it was a 70's band thing. Personally I have always found that type of moustache sexy.

really Jrnygrl? I see guys around with these huge moustaches that just seem to have no beginning and no end and I can't even see their mouth/lips. I like to see a man's mouth somewhere underneath all that hair!!!
