Wink Am I the Only Schneider Fan?

For me, Pat Harrington and Valerie Bertinelli were the two big draws on this
show. I had a huge crush on Valerie, and Harrington's Schneider reminded me
a lot of a cartoon character I created (in my spare time for my own amusement)
over a decade before the show ever aired, a sort of combination of Groucho
Marx and Bugs Bunny. So maybe I'm prejudiced. Anyway, I don't recall the
Schneider pilot (although I'm sure I must have seen the last episode). I missed
the reunion show but managed to find a video of it on eBay. Harrington was, I
think, a great comedian. He was a regular on Steve Allen's show in the 1950s.
He also recorded a comedy album. A very funny fellow. Favorite Schneider

I liked Schneider, but only in small doses.

I didn't like him when I was a kid. I thought his character was unecessary. If I could see the show again I might change my mind, but he didn't do too much for me on the reunion.

I can see your point. A lot of TV characters are like that, interesting in a
supporting role but headlining a show of their own would be too much. That's
why Henry Winkler turned down a "Fonzie" spin-off. Another one would be
Barney Fife (Don Knotts). I enjoyed his movies but a starring role in a series
would be too much of a good thing. By the way, PEOPLE magazine, in 2003,
picked Pat Harrington as one of the 100 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.

Schneider was the man! It wouldn't have been funny without him. He was my favorite character on the show.

It's been years, but I'm pretty sure there was an episode where Pat Harrington, playing a dual role, brough back one of his characters from the Steve Allen show; Guido Panzini?
