Rock Princess, the phonetics in Spanish are actually MUCH easier than English phonetics. Afterall, we have all these weird ways of pronouncing words like "doubt" or "should." How the heck do we know how to pronounce these unless we were taught these at a young age? So anyway.... learning some simple Spanish phonetics is nearly the same in ALL other like words/spellings.

Quiero ser tu amigo. - I want to be your friend.
The "q" is pronounced almost like the English "k" as a hard sound. "uiero" in this instant is pronounced like "yehro." "Ser" is like "sehr" and "tu" is like the English "tu" in "tutu." "Amigo" is like "ah-mee-go."

Hope this helps a bit.
