Default Why the Jeffersons is my Favorite show to watch

It's because I can relate so much to the George Jefferson character. Just like George, I have a short Temper, I'm easily annoyed, and I'm rude to people I don;t like-LOL Yes I'm being honest. So since I relate so much to this character and it turns out he is the main character of the show, it's easy to pick this as my favorite show of all time.

I never thought what it is about this show that's got me loving it. All I can remember is that day in August of 1998, when I was 13. I just happen to flip through the channels and boom....the rest is history....lol.

I'm the same way Retro, especially the "rude to people I don't like". LOL. AS for the show, I liked it a lot. But for some reason, it was not my favorite. Maybe my top 10 or 15.

I'm bumping this thread because it made me laugh. I'm a lot like you and George too. Same reasons.

I get annoyed very easily, but I guess I'm most like George because I'm rude to people I don't like. And there aren't too many people I like.

I'm not really like George per se, but if someone gives me attitude I give it back three-fold - so maybe in that sense I'm similar to George (or would that be Florence???)

Well I REALLY LIKE the show and think it'd make my top 10 of TV show's ever of all time. But for me it was more that there were so many GOOD characters on the show - and I do mean characters. And they were nuanced too. Yes George could be overbearing, obnoxious and he could have a big mouth but at the end of the day he had a heart of gold like Weezie. And Louise was a great character too, just the right balance for George - with her cool head, even disposition. And of course Florence who gave George back whatever she got. And Mother Jefferson who could be a real MOTHER - esp. to Louise - who imo had the patience of a saint. That she never slapped Mother J into next Tuesday is a true testament to a temperament of divine tolerance. (But you sure knew she was tested.).

And of course some of the funny plots, the zingers. It's really a long list of WHY the show is a fine one - this is just off the top of my head.

(Oh yes, and Harry Bentley with his flakiness and body massages-how could I leave him out)

Believe it or not The Jeffersons is my favorite show to watch these days.

3's Company has always been my favorite show but the Jeffersons stands the test of time better because the storylines and characters are better developed.

Watching it these days it makes you realize how good it is. It could actually be the greatest sitcom ever. Only The Fresh Prince and 3's Company can compare.
