Hi all,
Just found these boards today. I've been home recuperating from surgery and got into the habit of watching UM on Lifetime, which led to me thinking about the first episode of it that I absolutely remember. It was the Tara Calico case (can't remember the missing boy's name.) I had thought it aired as one of the specials before UM became a series. I was wrong about that, but am very excited to see that there are a lot of other people out there who like to discuss the show. It's one of my favorites. |

![]() I remember the Tara Calico case, which has been discussed at this board from time to time. The UM segment on the case first aired during the beginning of the show's second season (1989-90 season). When Tara disappeared in September 1988, UM had just barely begun as a regular weekly series. Therefore, it was impossible for the show to have profiled the case when it was only shown as a series of specials. When the case was later profiled on America's Most Wanted, I was surprised that the segment made no mention of Michael Henley, Jr., the boy whose 1988 disappearance was believed to have been connected to Tara's disappearance. I later found out why: Henley's remains were found in 1990. My first exposure to the case was on A Current Affair in 1989. That show vigorously profiled the case for months. That fall, I saw an UM advertisement in TV Guide magazine, which said something to the effect of "can one photo solve two disappearances?" That's when I knew the ad was referring to Tara Calico and Michael Henley, Jr. And my suspicion was right. I only saw this UM profile when it aired on NBC. I never saw it rerun on Lifetime, and I suspect that it was never rerun on that channel (unless they happened to have only shown it at a time when I wasn't watching). |
