AL vs. NL Championship Trophies - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

For some reason, semi-final championship trophies in professional sports leagues seem to generate a huge amount of publicity only in the NHL. And I think only in the NHL is there a belief that it is bad luck to touch and hold the trophy that is awarded for being the semi-finalist winner. In all other sports leagues, players, coaches, managers, and owners freely hoist their semi-final championship trophy. Perhaps the reason the NHL semi-final trophies are the most famous is because it is presented in the middle of the ice in full view of the spectators. But in other leagues including the MLB, the trophy presentation is done off-field in the locker room.

Which trophy do you think looks better? I think the American League Championship Trophy looks better.

Actually the pennant championship trophy is giving out either in the locker room OR on the field depending on if the winner is home or not.

If they are home it is done on the field infront of all the fans. If they are away, the losing team usually does not stick around to see the celebration so it is done in the locker room.

I like the look of the AL trophy better.

How about the actual World Series trophy? From my recollection, it seems to be presented in the locker room all the time, regardless of whether the home or visiting team won it. Is there a reason for this?

I think the AL trophy is better. Although it's great to hold that trophy, it doesn't mean anything. Only champions are remembered.
