Default Should AfterM*A*S*H and Walter be on DVD?

Hi everyone,

Just taking an informal poll as to whether AfterM*A*S*H and Walter should be released on DVD following the release of all eleven seasons of M*A*S*H on dvd? Anyone?

Bye for now.

Sincerely,

Patrick

Since Walter was only a pilot it could be an extra on season 11 of MASH. I would love to see After MASH but I don't think it would sell that good.

It would be cool, but the projected sales for these DVDs would be very low, I imagine. They're not going to put it out for a few hundred or thousand fans. From a business standpoint, I could understand this reasoning.

That's a good idea. Heck, package the AfterMASH pilot and the Walter pilot together as a bonus disc.

Guys please dont kill a huge Mash fan of many yrs but I watched both AfterMash and Walter and I thought they were both awful without Alan Alda and Mike Farrell as Hawkeye and BJ whom most ppl liked the most on MASH.

No I dont think they should be aired on tv. Another thing that bothered me was Klingers Korean wife cant remember the characters name think Rosalind Chow played her had to big of a role on AfterMash she just isnt that good an actress or funny.

I don't think you're going to find a lot of pro-AfterMASH or W*A*L*T*E*R fans here. I mean, I only watched a few of the episodes and I don't really remember them. They are not held in the same regard as the show they were spun off from even by people who liked them.

I don't see why they can't be aired on TV Land once in a while, or given a DVD release. I would like to see them as it's been such a long time since the first and only times I ever got to see them. If people choose not to watch, then they don't have to.

At least they gave After-MASH a season-and-a-half. They just dumped WALTER onto the summer schedule as an afterthought since they'd already paid for it. At least back then they aired unsold pilots.

In my opinion AfterMash and Walter. Wwere two attempts by the network after the huge ratings of the MASH finale to take a few of the popular characters like Col Potter and Klinger etc.,

thinking that just because it had the Mash name in the title that the Mash fans would love AfterMash no matter how bad the shows were.

Well, they took the three weakest characters and tried to build a new situation around them. Not a great recipe for success. This was also tried later on in the early '90s with The New WKRP In Cincinnati, where it was also built around three supporting characters and it too, failed.

Let them put these shows on DVD and TV Land and the hardcore fans who have to have them will buy and/or watch them and those who don't...won't.

Since I have never seen the "Walter" piolt, I would love to get a look at it.
As for "AfterMASH," I remeber watching it on CBS, and I would probably buy it on DVD.

I say bring it on!

From a business standpoint I could see why they might pass on the idea. But as a DVD collector, I want "AfterMash" and "Walter" on DVD.

my guess is, the last episode may be a dvd set unto itself. if so, then why not put the shows in question on a second disc with it as extras?

The final season was about only a half season, so there's no reason why the farewell couldn't be included as part of the season eleven box.

They can issue a separate AfterMASH DVD box if they want...but I wouldn't count on it. Many people don't even know it ever existed on TV.

I can see Fox putting this on the season 11 set 'Includes the final episode - Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen'. I've noticed in the sets so far that special episodes are mentioned on the back cover (Inga, Dear Sigmund, The Interview). Fox can make a lot of sales by having GFA with the rest of the final season episodes, they can mark the box specially that way.

As for AfterMASH and the Walter pilot, if Sony can release the entire series of 'That's My Mama' (which only ran for 1 season and a half season), then Fox may very well do the same. Go to http://tvshowsondvd.com/ and vote for AfterMASH.

Cool

When I saw the question "Should AfterM*A*S*H and W*A*L*T*E*R be on DVD ?", I thought "YES ! YES ! YES ! YES ! YES ! YES ! YES !" , I wish they'd never done "W*A*L*T*E*R", and "AfterM*A*S*H" wasn't exactly the best TV show in the Milky Way, but I'd love to see it again . If they don't think an "AfterM*A*S*H" and "W*A*L*T*E*R" DVD collection will be a big seller, they could come out with "M*A*S*H : The Complete Series" and throw in "AfterM*A*S*H" and "W*A*L*T*E*R" as a bonus . No matter how God -- awful a movie is or how lame a TV show is, if it's been filmed, it should be on DVD !
