Trading sites: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...t=tape+trading
As for the yahoo groups, there are behind-the-scenes issues that most are not aware of. I will speak briefly about the 3 largest yahoo trading groups: http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/tv-show-tape-trade/ - the owner abandoned it long ago. There is never a moderator, never a post deleted, or member banned = excellent place where scammers infest the place, though there are decent members that post there. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vid-for-trade/ - I quit moderating there because of lack of control of the moderators (i.e. scammers KNOW one of the moderators and are allowed to propogate). Of the five moderators at this group, two are absolutely excellent, but neither are all-knowing or have absolute authority there. When moderators disagree, deletions of posts and/or members are often hotly argued in private between moderators, siding with the scammer when moderators don't agree. http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/videotape-trading/ - This is probably the safest yahoo group and has been around the longest. We have three moderators there, and it is run fairly. When scammers are brought to the moderators' attention outside of that group, they are banned pronto, before problems occur. The moderators keep aware of the scammers cropping up on-line, and have a zero tolerance for scammers when there is abundant proof. |

Completely disagree. Maybe on newer shows, but 100% of the older shows are available b/c of offline collectors (who may now be online in today's age) were "smart" enough to record these shows as they occurred or in early syndication. AND all of the 1950s stuff came from 16mm film stock or in later days, some small cable stations have shown it (Good TV - The Lone Wolf). For instance, I can guarantee where the last Redd Foxx sitcom, Royal Family, came from b/c the 4 dvd set that is out there I made from copies obtained from a collector who is old school vhs and recorded them as they were shown in 1991, they did not come from complete market saturation of the alt.video.tape.trading world or the ioffer bootleg sales site. This site is probably the safest of all of the trade sites, however it still has issues of disagreement that mainly center on scammers or sellers. One thing that I think we do not do well as a group is cross refer folks to good traders who have sets that we do not. That is a great way to build a trading network. You never know when that person might find something you are looking for on someone's list. TD |

I'd have to agree this site is one of the best and safest.

But I appreciate those who have been gracious enough to respond & to trade with me. They have been wonderful & have allowed me to augment my collection, as I hope I've been able to do for them. Thank you to them!

i cant answer for anyone else, and thats their business anyhow but for me, a small trade and a large trade, cost the exact same amount of postage i can ship up to about 65 discs for $ 4.30 via priority mail, the same price as i can ship 6 discs thats why i dont do small trades its just too $$$ to handle ill trade any number with a new person to the board 20 , 40, 60, you name it i dont limit new folks but i insist that new folks do ship first, i have been robbed far too many times, its the advantage of being around a while, and makeing a number of trades i have lost--being conservative--at least 500 discs in the process to prove my worth as a trader once one gets established, it will not take a new person long either, we were all new at one time and i also needed to send first until i was proven even though i was proven other places, i wasnt proven here so redwine56, if you would like to drop me a trade list, i would be honored to look it over |

How do u think I recieved those gems?-lol What I'm trying to say is, your requests are seen by more traders than it would be on here. LikeI said, 85% of the rare shows collectioncame from posting on that site. |

And it's obvious he wasn't finding what he wanted on this site which is why he was looking for more options. So that's why i told him to go to-alt.video.trading, best trading site on the net. IMO |
