Reruns of the Carol Burnett Show would be a good start. Sure better than anything on there now.

I chose all sitcoms, CBS 70's, NBC 80's Because I started out as a sitcom lover and I have branched out to being a drama lover so sitcoms will always be closer to my heart...

I also choose all soaps but only on one condition and that is if they can produce good soaps like Dallas, Knot's landing, Falcon Crest, Beverly Hills 90210, and melrose Place...

I voted for reality shows... not because I like them, but just to get them out of the way so there isint as many during the week.

I don't see why they can't use sitcoms anymore on Saturdays. It worked in the 70's and 80's.

I agree. I used to look forward to watching tv on Saturday night. They always had some great hit shows on there including AITF which was the #1 show on tv at the time. I don't understand what has changed since then.

One of the biggest things that has happened is that most people who watch TV on Saturdays now watch cable or DVDs (or videos before that.) Viewers need a reason to change their viewing habits.

I think that one of the nets should show a little bravery and use Saturday nights as kind of a developmental night. That is, have some up and coming writing and production talent create some TV-movies and short series (6 - 12 eps) that would never make it on to the schedule on a prime night. The shows would be relatively low-budget, with the focus on stories, not on big $ effects or high-priced big name stars.

This would have a few different objectives.

1. Put something on Saturday nights that isn't reruns of Law and Order. I love L&O, but enough is enough.

2. Build relationships between the big nets and new creative talent. As they learn their craft, these new folks *will* make make mistakes and learn from them, and their future projects will benefit, and so will the nets that gave them their first break.

3. Some of the projects *will* work out, at least becoming "cult" hits Right now, the nets need to rebuild a loyal audience, and cult hits deliver that.

4. Right now, Saturday nights do not help build audiences for other nights - the people who are interested in the reruns that are currently shown are already going to watch on other nights, so promos are wasted here. Putting on new and interesting (maybe even edgy) shows that will pull in new viewers that just might be enticed to watch programs on other nights.
