Does anyone know if MPA or whatever the company name is has any plans to release the pre Barnabus episodes on dvd ever? Some of the storylines did drag on but I like them.

I heard the the early episodes will be released on DVD as soon as they finish the series. Hopefully they stick to the plans. I really wish the DVD sets had extras like TV commercials and stuff. They still do exist.

What episode number are they up to on the DVD releases so far????? I just ordered a few weeks back the first two video's of the "Pre-Barnabas" episodes. The very first ever D.S. episode they left the commercials in. That was pretty cool to watch the old commercials. Anyway, they are up to Set 21, aren't they?, in the dvd boxset releases. That's 40 episodes each set for a total of 840 episodes so far on dvd. Are close are they until the end of the series. It must be pretty close, shouldn't it????? I thought that the series had a total of a little over 1200 episodes. Is this correct?

i think it was 1,225 episodes or something, and thanks at least that gives me an idea that they MAY release the pre barnabus eps. I wish they'd also knock the dvd's down to 20 bucks each. I mean its kinda ridiculous to expect like 30 sets at 50 bucks each. I know we are lucky to have it on dvd but geez, what the point if we cant even afford it?

Oh, I agree with you----a company can't expect to sell items that their customer base can not afford but on the other hand, MPI has a monopoly when it comes to Dark Shadows. i.e., if you want to watch the shows, you have to buy them. I mean a person can still buy the sets from other sources like Ebay or Amazon, etc. but the lowest I have ever seen one of those sets is at least around 40 dollars. You can buy them cheaper on some of the other online dvd sites, for example. Anyway you look at it, these shows are expensive. Somebody that has 20 of the dvd sets, for example, has a serious investment represented right there. Even if someone gets a "good price" on a dvd set, you still have to figure in postage/handling, so even with that, you're still looking at 50 dollars per set average. At that, a person who has 20 dvd sets has at least 1,000 dollars investment in those dvd's!!!!!!!
It's expensive. Signed, Respectfully, Dutch |

I've been lucky enough to get every set from my public library. I'm now on Set 18. Hopefully they will buy the entire series. Dark Shadows doesn't seem like a library item really. I'm hoping they will get the 1991 series dVD set.
Yes, the discs are expensive. I guess they think the retired or soon-to-retire baby boomers are the ones who can the afford the entire series!

Wow!!!!!! I want to go to YOUR library!!!!!! That's awesome!!!!! There must have been somebody who requested those dvd sets. The library where I live is pretty good, it seems, from what I understand anyway, about purchasing items that have been requested. But having 18 dvd sets of D.S.?!?!? WOW!!!!!!!! Awesome. You are VERY lucky, to say the least.
