Default Christopher Knight Interview

http://entertainment.excite.com/celebgossip/tvginsider/id/10_14_2005_2.html

October 14, 2005Has "Peter Brady" Found True Love?
by Danny Spiegel

It was a match made in reality heaven. On last season's The Surreal Life, Christopher Knight (aka The Brady Bunch's Peter) and Adrianne Curry, the first winner of America's Next Top Model, unexpectedly fell for each other amid the typical chaos of the VH1 show. And despite a significant age difference — he's 47, she's 23 — Adrianne soon moved into Christopher's Los Angeles home. It was all supposed to be "temporary," until she found her own place, but when their follow-up VH1 series, My Fair Brady (Sundays at 9:30 pm/ET), went into production months later, she was still there. From the first few episodes, it's clear that this is a unique and passionate relationship. We asked the unlikely lovers to break it down for us when they visited the TV Guide offices during a recent trip to New York City.
TVGuide.com: My Fair Brady was shot several months ago. What's your status now?Adrianne Curry: We are living with each other. Currently, we are cohabitating. Christopher Knight: Well, we're cohabitating now, but....Curry: No, no, no. You say [in interviews] that I'm not moving out, yet every week there's a fight, OK? I'm saying I'm gonna move out, [that] he wants me to move out....
TVGuide.com: What's the biggest lesson you've learned from watching yourselves together?Curry: Don't watch yourself. [Laughs] Watching yourself on a sitcom when you're portraying something else? Yeah, that's fine. You can be, like, "Eh, bad acting." But watching yourself be yourself for everybody else to see, be it good times or bad....Knight: You know, it's not unusual for actors not to watch their work. So it's only worse if it's you not acting, but being you in a personal relationship. But I learned this: I suffer badly from this thing they call "foot in mouth." She'll say something like, "Is this cellulite?" and I'll say, "Yeah." I'm trying to be honest and... that's not good.
TVGuide.com: Do you two watch My Fair Brady together?Curry: I like to watch it because I like to know what he was saying that I didn't get to previously hear, and I wanted to see how he was justifying completely changing his mind on things we had previously agreed on. It's good for me to see why.
TVGuide.com: The show has a tendency to focus on conflict. Each of you, tell me one quick thing you love about the other.Knight: When she smiles at me. I realized I had to pursue Adrianne when we were on The Surreal Life. We were having "mock date night" at the house, à la The Dating Game, and she was set up with this random guy the producers brought in. And at the end of the night, when she was given the option to pursue this date outside of the house, she said her "heart belongs to another." And then she looks over at me with this girlish, bashful smile, and it just melted my heart.Curry: He'll whip around and take me in his arms and tell me how beautiful I am or things he loves about me. I really appreciate that. And his tolerance for [putting up] with my family. I have a really big Italian family that is really in your business and wants to know absolutely every aspect of every thought in your mind and everything you've ever done, and he handles that very well. I really respect that. I do.
TVGuide.com: Is it a little weird having such intimate parts of your life on camera and then having to field even more questions about it?Curry: Isn't it f---ed up, though?Knight: Oh, yeah. What makes it really difficult is, we don't have the answers either. We're a work in progress. But all relationships are a work in progress. It's just odd always having to talk about it. You're asking about stuff that happened four months ago [when the show was taped], but it will now reverberate back into our life, and I'll have to answer questions that were essentially dealt with in the past.Curry: What question here am I even going to ask you about later? Knight: It gets regurgitated when you watch. We knew going in that the show was going to be one of the hardest things — and it turns out it was.Curry: For me, too.Knight: But that's only half the puzzle; the other is watching the broadcast. There are parts that she's never seen. I wasn't part of her interviews and she wasn't part of mine. So I didn't know what she was saying. One of the things that impressed me the most about Adrianne was watching her interviews on The Surreal Life, which I was never privy to while we were living in that house. So that has a way of also bleeding into your relationship.Curry: The Surreal Life is easier to watch because you're just like, "Woo-hoo! Mad house!" This is more, like....Knight: "It's your life!"
