I read somewhere that George Lindsey made a spinoff pilot. My questions are was is ever filmed or was it just an idea and what year was it from.

that's right, he did! I forgot all about that. He made a pilot where he again played Goober, this time he was running a diner, or something. I think it was also on CBS; I remember it aired in the summer in 1976 or 77, or something. It was called something like "Goober and the Truckers Paradise" or something like that. I remember, I didn't watch it because it looked pretty bad, but I remember my brother did, and said it was awful.

thanks treky I did not realize it was after Mayberry RFD. Running a diner, I don't see why they did not have him still at the gas station.
